Director Scott Ross has joined Alkemy X. He previously was a senior director and producer for Urban Outfitters, where he co-produced, directed and edited “The World of Lisa Frank.” He spearheaded Urban Outfitters’ in-house digital content department, spending four years directing hundreds of videos including fashion films, branded documentary pieces, live music specials, and short comedy pieces. Prior to that, he directed music videos for indie artists Wet, Big Freedia and Toro y Moi. Most recently, he directed brand identity documentaries for Milagro Tequila and Hendricks Gin, and video content for Columbia Records. In 2015, the Tribeca Film Festival honored Mr. Ross for his directing and editing work on his comedy web series “The Adventures of Jamel: The Time-Travelling B-Boy.”
B-Reel Films has signed Director Bastian Glaessner for representation in the U.S. and the U.K. He previously directed work at Blink and Furlined and spent 11 years with the director trio known as Lynn Fox. A veteran of commercial filmmaking, he has worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Audi, Cadillac, Mercedes,and Unilever’s Axe and has collaborated with singer-songwriter Björk.
Bi-coastal production company Honor Society has signed directing team Alden Ford, Justin Tyler and Bobby Webster of Jetpacks Go! for U.S. commercial representation. The three will work on brands including Oral-B, Trident, Sprint, Ruffles, Hewlett Packard and Wiser’s Whiskey. Ford and Tyler have been collaborating as writers and comedians for nearly a decade since their days at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. They have written and directed for Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Fuse, Nickelodeon and Fox Sports1. Webster brings a background in film to the trio, having written and directed shorts and commercials, as well as shooting independent feature films and the Oscar-winning short film “God of Love.”
Skunk founder Matt Factor and U.K. producer Kate Taylor are opening Skunk in London. The new U.K. office represents ten directors from the U.S. roster, who boast over a billion views on YouTube and have made films for brands including BMW, Burger King, Geico and Nike. Taylor joins Skunk as managing director and executive producer. She has previously produced in London for companies including Rattling Stick, Sonny, Biscuit Filmworks and Outsider.
Jim Hosking, who signed to Skunk’s worldwide roster, is its first London-based director. He has directed for several brands, and his debut feature film “The Greasy Strangler” premiered at Sundance and also featured at SXSW this year.
m ss ng p eces, the production and entertainment company, has hired Edward Grann as executive producer and Natalie Loos as head of marketing. Grann has over twenty years of experience as an executive producer of commercial projects, across digital, experiential, virtual reality and branded content. In 2000, he moved to Paris where he launched the Chased By Cowboys production company, and its sister company, Warm and Fuzzy. He moved back to the U.S. in 2014 to help open Persuade Content.
Prior to m ss ng p eces, Loos was marketing director of creative services at Deluxe, overseeing marketing and communication strategies for the company’s Creative Services division. Prior to Deluxe, she worked with talent manager Barrie Isaacson, representing the creative rosters of clients including A White Label Product/Sibling Rivalry, Skunk, The Whitehouse Edit, Human, Motion Theory and The Mill.
